Nutrition & Food Security

Access to good food shouldn’t depend on your zip code or your income. SAVE Family Foundation works directly with schools, farmers, and food banks across Northern California to put fresh, healthy food within reach of families who need it, and to teach the next generation how to use it.

Our Work

Farm-to-Family Market Day

In partnership with a local elementary school, SAVE connected area farmers with surplus produce and set it up grocery-store-style, with photos, signage, and all-local, fresh produce for parents to shop through at no cost.

A SAVE Family Foundation board member and physician, Dr. Sumana Kondle, was on-site to answer questions about specific foods and offer quick, simple recipes and prep tips, turning a produce giveaway into a hands-on nutrition consult. We’re working to bring this model to more schools and more farm partners in the year ahead.
